PART 5
TEACHING
PRACTICE
1.1
Procedures of Teaching
Before the students teachers are allowed to teach in
the elementary school, we should consult our lesson plan with our supervicor
first. We used our format and also West Visayas State University format. There are some
differences between Indonesian Lesson Plan and also Philippine Lesson Plan. In
the Indonesian Lesson Plan, we divide the lesson obejctives becomes afective,
cognitive, and also psychomotor.
The other is, in our Indonesian Lesson Plan, we put
the teacher and pupils activities in the attachment of our lesson plan we
called it transkrip. But, in the Philippines, we put their activities include
in the lesson plan. For the students teacher that will be observed, we used the
detail lesson plan. It is different with the real teacher, because they will
use the semi detail lesson plan.
1.2
Time Management and Organizing Activities
In this elementary
school, each lesson usually has 1 hour. For the student teacher in grade six,
every day we have different lesson. Each lesson consist of 1 topic, so we can
finish it in one hour. In the lesson plan, we spend 10-15 minutes for the
opening and also give them the motivation. For the main activity, we have take
35-40 minutes, and for the closing we spend 10-15 minutes again. All of them
depends on the topic of lesson that will be given for the pupils. Some of
differences in the lesson plan are: if in the Mathematics, we should put
“drill” before the motivation, in science we should put the process in our
lesson plan and there are some differences in English Lesson Plan.
5.3 Problem-Solving
Grade
six is the last grade for the elementary school. The condition also different
with the other grade. But, some times they are still noisy and did not focused
with their lesson. As a student teacher, we should have the other methodes and
also strategy to solve this problem. In my demonstration. I used the recitation
log and always give them motivation such as song and also clap. For the
mathematics, we have flash card for the pupils so they can answer it quickly.
The other problems are
in our communication. Indonesian people not usual to use English to speak in
our activities. But, in the Philippines they are usual to use English to
communicate with the other people. The students teacher should be active to
speak in English although we have different dialect.
1.3
Classroom management
For the classroom
management, we always rearange the position of the pupil’s seat. For example
when they will make groups, they will move on their own group and make a circle
formation. And then, when they are noisy, we can stop for a while until the pupils
pay attention back to the teacher.
